4 REASONS TO SPEND YOUR CHRISTMAS IN HAWAII

Hawaii is our home, and after all the holiday seasons we’ve spent here in the Aloha State, we’ve pretty much perfected our holiday routine. Below are four reasons to spend your Christmas in Hawaii.

ESCAPE.

Sure, the Hawaiian Islands are still a part of the United States, but we’d be crazy not to point out that there is something truly and uniquely exotic about this paradise. With its own culture, time zone and way of living Hawaii sets itself up to be the ideal place to get away from life’s everyday hustle and bustle.

FOOD.

The holidays in Hawaii wouldn’t be the same without all of the ‘ono food! And if comfort food is what you’re looking for on a Hawaiian Christmas getaway, the 808 State has got it covered. Hawaii has its fair share of upscale restaurants which include Roy’s, Nobu Waikiki and Alan Wong’s, but it also has a vast selection of local favorites like garlic shrimp, spam musubi, and shave ice. Our very own North Shore is home to some of the very best grinds on the island – Big Wave Shrimp Truck, Matsumotos, The Beet Box Café, etc.

BEACHES.

If there’s one thing with which Hawaii overflows, it’s beaches. As a child, every Christmas break left us a few shades darker when returning to school the next semester. Yes, we’re a little biased to the North Shore when it comes to listing our favorites on the island. Waimea and Ke`ikis stand right there at the top when it comes to family-friendly spots with a 10/10 view. Other equally popular and gorgeous beaches include Lanikai, Bellows, Kalamas, Sandys, Makapu`u, Makaha, the list truly does go on and on. Pack some water, sunscreen and snacks, and you’re set.

ALOHA.

Hawaii isn’t called the Aloha State for nothing. The Hawaiian word aloha can be used as a greeting, a farewell, an expression of love and a way of life. The catch-all word resonates throughout the islands and its residents, and unless you’ve spent time in the state, you really can’t fully comprehend it. The spirit of aloha, especially during the holiday season, will have you begging to return to this paradise every year.

We highly recommend you and your loved ones pay a visit to Hawaii for Christmas. Whether it be this year, next year or ten years from now – make a plan and see it through. We promise you will not regret it. There’s nowhere else we’d rather be for the holidays than our very own Hawaii Nei. Merry Christmas from our North Shore Explorers Ohana to yours!
