We are proud to announce that The Outpost at Turtle Bay has brought FootGolf to Oahu! Not familiar with the sport? No problem. This month we’re dishing all the FootGolf facts and basics.
FootGolf turns out to be one of the fastest growing sports in the world and ingeniusly combines the challenges of both golf and soccer. The main goal of FootGolf is to get the standard #5 soccer ball from the teeing ground to adesignated 21-inch wide hole in the least number of kicks. Like golf, if your combined number of kicks totals less than your opponents at the end of the game, you win!
The rules to FootGolf are simple and quite similar to those of Golf.
•Each hole begins with a tee off.
•Players may kick the soccer ball from any spot up to two yards behind the tee markers.
•Kicks may not interfere with other players.
•The soccer ball must be played in a single, swift movement.
•Players are not allowed to kick, move or push the soccer ball with the bottom or top of their foot.
•Players must wait to play the next turn until the soccer ball in play has come to a complete rest.
•Play the soccer ball where it lies. Players are never allowed to move the soccer ball, except when it is obstructing another player’s kick or ball. In this case, players should mark the spot of rest and remove the ball until the next turn.
•If a player’s soccer ball comes to rest on the golf green, he or she should move it to the nearest spot off the green to kick (without penalty).
•If the soccer ball lands in a water hazard, players should either replace it within two steps of the closest point of land or return the ball to the spot of the previous kick. Each action will receive a one-stroke penalty.
•If the soccer ball is kicked out of bounds, place it within two steps from the where it crossed the out of bound marks, and receive a one-stroke penalty.
